San Diego home sales rebounded in October, bolstered by increasing inventory and persistent buyer demand.

Detached home sales surged by 14.5 percent month-over-month in October 2024 and were up 8.9 percent compared to October 2023. Condos and townhomes experienced a smaller rise, with sales increasing 4.2 percent from the previous month and holding steady year-over-year. Sales across all property types closed escrow in an average of 25 days during October 2024, compared to 18 days on the market a year ago.

While closings and sales have increased, San Diego home prices are also on the rise. The median sales price for detached homes in San Diego climbed 8.9 percent year-over-year to $1,050,000, while condos and townhomes saw a more modest increase of 3.5 percent, reaching a median of $679,000. Collectively, the median home sale price in San Diego is trending about 6.2 percent higher than last October.


Rising inventory of homes for sale on the market in San Diego continues to expand, providing more opportunities for buyers. Detached homes saw a 30.9 percent increase in inventory, while condos and townhomes experienced a 50.9 percent boost. The growing number of listings for sale in San Diego gives you more options to evaluate, while higher interest rates continue to normalize sale prices compared to recent years.
