The value of San Diego real estate continues to heat up, albeit at a slower pace, with home prices still increasing steadily each month. The CoreLogic Home Price Index showed that home prices grew 18 percent last year. That’s the largest annual gain in its 45-year history.

This led to a tremendous boost in home equity wealth for many homeowners. The top three gaining states were Hawaii, California, and Washington that experienced the most significant average increases, at $128,300, $117,000, and $95,000, respectively.
